Akogun craves support among Unilorin stakeholders


Directorate of Corporate Affairs, through the director, Mr Kunle Akogun, craved support for University management.

He said this in a courtesy visit paid by the Union of Campus Journalists, in the University.

Akogun said, "This new administration would be known especially for helping
students among students, students and staff, students, staff and management."

He reported that, there will always be problems, but the ability to tackle the problems, how we tackle it, from the management, staff and students level, will not allow the problem result into another situation.

Akogun while advising the Union stated that, "Journalism is a noble profession. It is the practitioners who make it feel like war, you owe the people a social responsibility, because without it you can make or mar the system."

Akogun highlighted the goals of the new administration, stating that the university is not an island on its own, as he charged the Union to play its role. 

The visit was to further strengthen the already established communication ties between the Union and the Corporate Affairs Unit.

The director, in a warm acceptance congratulated the newly elected members of the Union, and charged them to keep the flag of their predecessors flying.

The Director of Publicity UCJ, Mr Akinyemi Muhammed, while speaking on behalf of the Union, presented the Union's agenda for the session and sought for further support from the director.

He stated that, the Union is not for business as usual, and that the new administration intends to reach at least 80% of the students populace.

Akogun in his reply, commended the efforts of the union.

He said, "I know that there are a lot of blogs, a lot of platforms on campus, but we thank the Union of Campus Journalists, who are always up and doing. Trying to manage situation for us. If there is anything that is controversial, they always seek our own opinion before they publish anything."

The Union congratulated him on the successful release of his book titled; "The Ambali Years: A Chronicle of the Landmark Achievements of Prof. Abdulganiyu Ambali 2012-2017"  and wished him further success.
