Fire hits Federal Character Commission building in Abuja

Fire on Tuesday gut the Federal Character Commission Headquarters in Abuja. The inferno, which was said to have been caused by an electrical fault, affected mostly the Data Centre of the commission.

It was learnt that the fire started in the server room of the centre. Some eyewitnesses said the affected offices were being used by the Management Information Systems unit.

An official of the commission, who did not want his name in print, while confirming the incident, said, “The fire was put out with the prompt response of the fire service.”
