Five pairs of giant black holes discovered

Scientists discovered dual supermassive black holes, present in the cores of galaxies.

Described as the bumper crop, it can aid the astronomers to understand better how giant black holes grow and generate strongest gravitational wave signals in the cosmos.

As per the new findings, the five pairs of supermassive black holes possess the mass equivalent to millions of times that of Sun's.

The collision of two galaxies followed by their fusion led to the formation of these pairs of supermassive black holes. The merging of these two galaxies resulted in forcing their supermassive black holes close together.

Data from the NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory, the Wide-Field Infrared Sky Explorer Survey (WISE), and the ground-based Large Binocular Telescope in Arizona was accumulated, which led to the finding of these black hole pairs.
