Lindelof 'shouldn't be written off yet - Ryan Giggs

Ryan Giggs has backed Victor Lindelof to come good at Manchester United like Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra and Jaap Stam.

Lindelof has come under fire for his performance in the 2-1 defeat to Huddersfield -- his first real taste of the Premier League -- after he was at fault for the second goal.

Lindelof, who arrived at Old Trafford in a £31 million deal from Benfica in the summer, is in line to keep his place for the Carabao Cup fourth-round tie with Swansea on Tuesday.

"One player who has attracted a lot of criticism is Victor Lindelof but he certainly shouldn't be written off yet," Giggs said. "Some players come to the Premier League and bed in straight away and others can take six months or even a year, as it was for Patrice Evra, Jaap Stam and Nemanja Vidic, and they went on to be unbelievable players."

He said, "You win together and lose together and you can't single out a player, especially when he hasn't been playing regularly. He's just got to knuckle down and come through this."
