UCJ, Unilorin Disclaims Unilorin Revolutionaries's Involvement

Re: Prof. Abdul-Ganiyu Ambali — Should we all wish him bye bye and never see you again? Or we all want to see him again?

It is imperative that when your name is dragged into the mud, you wrestle it out and wash it clean. This is why the Union of Campus Journalists, UNILORIN, will not sit back while we watch our name remain in the mud of a mediocre and 'libelous' publication, by a certain group know as 'Unilorinrevolutionaries'.

In broadcast forwarded to the Union, on its WhatsApp page, was a prepubescent  article, addressed to the outgoing Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Abdul-Ganiyu Ambali.

The Union is not a spokesman for the VC. We are a largely independent Press body responsible for delivering up-to-date news, editorials, information, that have legitimate backing and are professionally written. This is why we decided to take up action as a Union, when we noticed the broadcast article CCed the Union.

Firstly, it is important that we mention the Principles behind CCing an article/a piece. CCs traditionally mean 'Carbon Copy'.

Carbon Copies were used to make extra copies of a particular letter, so that a designated person may get that extra copy. With the extinction of most manually written, or typewriter made letters, CCs were used in letters to mean that a copy of the letters/materials would get to the person CCed.

In this case, the UCJ, UNILORIN -has- not CCed any copy of the article, and we believe neither of the other persons CCed have got a copy of the article. To this end, we would like to wash our hands clean, from this sea of 'unethical practices.'

Next to be trashed is the content of the article. Either it was an intentional attempt, or an attempt made out of error, but the cheap attempt at 'publicity' made by the 'Unilorin Revolutionaries' can be classified as a 'puerile publication.'

The UCJ UNILORIN's motto is 'Liberty Championed by the pen' and the credibility we have gained throughout the University of Ilorin community and its environs, is because we have made honesty the ink in our pen, towards championing liberty.

The article made raised issues that would have been cogent, if it had evidenced for it, but it instead wanted every reader to drown in its 'disinformation' and folly.

You cannot attempt to be the next Omoyele Sowore by pointing fingers, without proof to back it up. If we all rush into 'Yes, You're right' with this Association, this might be the beginning of an unending disaster to professionalism in Journalism.

On a final note, UCJ, Unilorin would like to reiterate to the general public that we did not receive any copy of such article from this group, and the Union is not a part of this 'unethical movement.' The major reason for CCing is to get the interest of the party, and our interest does not align with their goals.

Question the public should ruminate on, while the identities of these 'faceless group' is being investigated is;

Why have they decided to make accusations without evidence, as evidence terminates all arguments?

The UCJ will forever make 'Liberty Championed by the Pen' its watchword, and we will forever be on our toes towards smart, investigative and honest journalism. We do not belong to a faceless ideology.

See See, Unilorin Revolutionaries.
