Zidane names Real Madrid's most important player, not Cristiano Ronaldo


Zinedine Zidane has said he considers Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos as the most important player in the club ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Frenchman dedicated his FIFACoach of the Year award to his players of which he believes Ramos is the most important.

“Sergio Ramos is our captain and knows his status within the side,” Zidane told Radio Marca.

“In the end, he is the most important player in the team as he is the leader."

“Madrid are the best club in the world and our goal is to keep making history with all these wonderful players and people who are at the club.”

Los Blancos had five players in the FIFA Team of the Year; Ramos, Marcelo, Cristiano Ronaldo, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.

Madrid have won five trophies in the past twelve months including both La Liga and the Champions League.
