INEC Hosts Youth Strategy Development Meeting



The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in conjunction with Youth Initiative Advocacy Growth and Advancement, YIAGA, has organized a youth focused state consultation meeting, at the INEC Office in Kwara State. 


The gathering which was graced by NGO, CSO, and Pressure Group leaders, was a brainstorming session which allowed for due consultation from different perspectives, towards aiding the execution of the primary objectives of INEC.


The meeting which happened on Wednesday, May 17, was declared open by the Publicity Officer, INEC, Mr Sheriff, while the welcome address was given by representative of YIAGA, Mr Olasupo Abideen. Directors from various departments in the INEC also graced the event, to assist in decision making.


The meeting saw discussants and INEC officials divided into sub groups to tackle various issues that were tabled for scrutiny. The Guide questions included issues like; "INEC Youth Strategy Development Goals, Objectives, Principles, Values and Targets; Identifying Youth Issues In the Electoral Process".


At the end of the event, participants were able to map our strategic solutions to the problems highlighted at the inception of the event. The recommendations and suggestions reached were collated for dispatch to INEC Headquarters in Abuja, where they will be looked into critically, and adopted where necessary.


The event was signalled over with a closing prayer, as parties gathered for refreshment and photographs.
