Group advises AGF against re-arresting Kanu

An Igbo socio-cultural group, Nzuko Umunna, says it aligns itself with the position of the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief John Nwodo, who cautioned the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, against seeking the re-arrest of the leader of the Indigenous People of Bifara, Nnamdi Kanu.

A statement📝 on Friday by the group, signed by the General Secretary, Paschal Mbanefo and the Publicity Secretary, Jude Ndukwe, the group said the decision to seek Kanu's re-arrest was ill-advised.

The group said in a democracy, Kanu and others like him who were agitating for self-determination "have not necessarily done anything criminal apart from exercising their fundamental right of speech, association and of movement."
