Trump tweet: The Devil 😈 and the Deeep Sea 🌊

With the devastating Hurricane Irma fast approaching Florida, President Trump has had his hands full, figuring out emergency ⚠️ procedures, relief funds and battling between rebuilding Texas and growing increasingly anxious about the damage that Irma would cause. So, his tweets 🐦 this Saturday were short, simple and all about the moment.

🐦 Churches in Texas should be entitled to reimbursement from FEMA Relief Funds for helping victims of Hurricane Harvey (just like others).

Trump has thrown his support behind Texas churches seeking FEMA disaster relief funds in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. His comments came a few days after three Texas churches—Harvest Family Church, the Hi-Way Tabernacle and the Rockport First Assembly of God—sued ⚖ for access to the funds, which are normally not provided to religious institutions. While Trump did not single out the three churches by name, his tweet has raised questions ❓ about whether his public endorsement will influence the case. It was not immediately clear whether his appeal would also apply to local mosques and synagogues assisting in Harvey relief efforts.

Florida Governor Rick Scott says at least 76,000 people are without power as Irma unleashes winds and rain on the state. Scott said on Saturday night that the number of outages is expected to grow 📈 as Irma moves closer to the state. He warned people the storm is life-threatening.

🐦 The U.S. Coast Guard, FEMA and all Federal and State brave people are ready. Here comes Irma. God bless everyone!

🐦 This is a storm of enormous destructive power, and I ask everyone in the storm’s path to heed ALL instructions from government officials.

The US National Weather Service says the first hurricane-force wind gust has been recorded in the Florida Keys as Irma inches closer to the state. The weather service says the Smith Shoal Light station recorded a 74mph (119kmh) wind gust on Saturday night. The centre of Irma️ is headed toward the Keys and has sustained winds of 120mph.
