According to the New York Times, lawyers for Michael T. Flynn, President Trump's former national security adviser, notified the president's legal team in recent days that they could no longer discuss the special counsel's investigation.
This is believed to be an indication that Mr. Flynn is cooperating with prosecutors or negotiating a deal.
Gen Michael Flynn was the President's National Security Advisor, a senior post in the cabinet with access to classified intelligence. He was fired by Trump when he was found to have lied to him about his contacts with Russia.
Flynn was also the first person to lead chants of "lock her up," at the Republican Convention during the campaign last year. The chant referred to locking up Hillary Clinton for her alleged misuse of a personal email server.
If Flynn is now cooperating with the prosecutor, it is assumed to indicate that he has considerable evidence of value about people higher up in the food chain than him.
