United look to keep mitts on De Gea from Real Madrid

Manchester United are set to offer David De Gea a new contract to ward off interest from longtime admirers Real Madrid, according to The Independent.

Madrid infamously failed to sign De Gea two years ago -- reportedly due to a dodgy fax machine -- but continue to be linked with a move for the Spain international.

That has not been lost on United, who are determined to tie their goalkeeper down to a new deal, given that his current one is set to expire in 2019.

Jose Mourinho does not want to risk losing his No. 1 and is keen to get him to sign an extension by the start of the new year.
