Mass communication students, university of Ilorin has emerged 1st runner up in the Advertising Creativity and Innovation Talent Hunt (ACITH), organised by Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) and New Crystal Communications.
The 4-student team representing the university, named Team SEREINC presented an out-of-home advertising campaign on environmental pollution, alongside other universities: University of Lagos, Caritas University, Enugu, Nigeria Institute of Journalism.
Team SEREINC consists Dr. L.K Mustapha as the Referee, Adesina Opeyemi Abdulazeez (Team Leader), Ahmed Abdullahi (Graphics Designer), Folayan Adejoke (Planning and Logistics) and Yusuff Muslimah (Auditor and Manager).
The final and award ceremony took place in APCON House, National Theatre Annex, Iganmu, Lagos. This was after all creative brief have been sent out and contestants submitted their proposals.
The award ceremony commenced after the final presentation had in attendance; Alhaji Garba Bello Kankarofi, Registrar/C. E. O of APCON, Mrs Omodunni, Managing Director Stb Mccann, Sir Dozie Mbanifo, Managing Director New Crystal Communications, other APCON executives and lecturers.
At the competition Unilag came first position, Unilorin emerged second position, while Caritas University, Enugu, emerged 3rd position.
The Managing Drector of Stb Mccann, Mrs Omodunni said, ‘In any Creative Advert, make sure you get the big Idea,' as she charged young advertising practitioners to be creative.
The C.E.O of APCON, Alhaji Kankarofi, advised students to practice what they are been taught and to as well engage in competitions that will prepare them for the industry after graduation.
