US Open🏆Roundup: Muguruza, Venus and Sharapova🌟 Through


Day 5⃣ of the US Open saw all the major names in the women's section progress to the third round several big names in the men's draw fell by the wayside.

Maria Sharapova, on the charge after returning from the doping ban, reached the fourth round after an unconvincing win over USA's Sofia Kenin while Wimbledon champion Garbine Muguruza imperiously marched past Magdalena Rybarikova. Venus Williams also had no trouble beating Greece's Maria Sakkari in straight sets.

However, in the men's draw, 10th seed John Isner was surprised by Mischa Zverev while Marin Cilic, the Wimbledon finalist, fell to Diego Schwartzmann.

Canadian teen sensation Denis Shapovalov kept up his impressive run by felling Britain's Kyle Edmund who retired during the fourth set.
