The Nigeria University Education Students Association (NUESA), Unilorin Chapter has held a press conference to mark the 35th anniversary celebration.
The event held on Monday January 15th, 2018 at the Education Lecture Theatre. The event featured unveiling of the 35th anniversary logo and launching of the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) located in the faculty of education.
In his opening remarks, Prof. N.B Oyedeji Dean Faculty of Education, said that the faculty has developed and had great accomplishments since its establishment.
He pointed out, that the faculty has produced graduates who are good ambassadors of the faculty as well as the University. He urged the Students to keep the flag flying.
In his address, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Services), Prof A.Y Abdulkareem who represented the Vice Chancellor Prof. Abdulkareem Age.
He said that Unilorin has been the most sought after institution by admission seekers for the five years despite its challenges.
He pointed out, that the university management did not relent but has always put measures in place to solve its challenges, “In term of quality and number of Students Faculty of Education is the best," he said.
He urged the Students to maximize the opportunity of the available resources on campus.
Addressing reporters, the president of the Nigeria University Education Students Association (NUESA) Unilorin Chapter, Com Muhammed Mustapha unveiled association programmes for the 2017/2018 session among which are fresher’s picnic, personality programme and NUESA week etc.
While answering questions from the reporters, he said that his administration has been working assiduously since assumption of office to check the challenge of transportation faced by the students and other challenges.
He expressed profound gratitude to Prof. N.B Oyedeji Dean Faculty of Education, NUESA staff adviser Dr. A.T Muritala as well as the past president for their unflinching support and advice to the association.
While Speaking, Dr. Alex Akanmu Sub Dean Students’ Affairs Unit, said that the unit is the local parent of students and committed to the welfare of the Students. He however, condemned the recent misuse of social media by the students which do not project of the image of the university well.
While giving vote of thanks, the Director of publicity Com. Ishaq Ishowo expressed profound gratitude to the University management, faculty management, as well as the Students affairs Unit. He also expressed appreciation to the students, gentlemen of the press as well as NUESA past president present for honouring their invitation.
The event was well attended by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Services) Prof. A.Y Abdulkareem who represented the Vice Chancellor Prof. Abdulkareem Age, Dean Faculty of Education Prof. N.B Oyedeji. Others include, Vice President, Hikmat Abdulkareem, Students’ Union Central Executive Council, as well as Students and gentlemen of the press.
