Answer to this Question is pretty Simple. Jerusalem is something common between Abrahamic religions. Some of the most sacred places for each of these religions are found in Jerusalem and the one shared between all three is the Temple Mount.

Judaism

Jerusalem has been the holiest city in Judaism and the ancestral and spiritual homeland of the Jewish people since the 10th century BCE. During classical antiquity, Jerusalem was considered the center of the world, where God resided. The city of Jerusalem is given special status in Jewish religious law. In particular, Jews outside Jerusalem pray facing its direction, and the maaser sheni, revai and First Fruits must be eaten in Jerusalem. Any expansion of the city for these purposes must be approved by the Sanhedrin. Also, when the Temple in Jerusalem was standing, Jerusalem observed special laws regarding the Four Species on Sukkot, and the Shofar on Rosh Hashanah.

Christianity

In Christian tradition, Jerusalem's place in the life of Jesus gives it great importance, in addition to its place in the Old Testament. Jerusalem is the place where Jesus was brought as a child, to be "presented" at the Temple (Luke 2:22) and to attend festivals (Luke 2:41). According to the Gospels, Jesus preached and healed in Jerusalem, especially in the Temple courts.

Islam

Jerusalem is considered a sacred site in Islamic tradition, along with Mecca and Medina. Islamic tradition holds that previous prophets were associated with the city, and that the Islamic Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) visited the city on a nocturnal journey (Isra and Mi'raj). Due to such significance, it was the first Qibla (direction of prayer) for Muslims and the prophet Muhammad designated the Al-Aqsa for pilgrimage.

Whenever one people conquers a holy place belonging to another people, they try to leave their own religious mark on it. The Romans destroyed the Second Temple in Jerusalem, for example, and built their own.

Over the centuries all three of the Abrahamic religions have considered Jerusalem holy. The Jews because it was their capital before the diaspora and the home of the First and Second Temples; the Christians because it was the place where Jesus was crucified; the Muslims because it is where Mohammed ascended to Heaven. They have all built religious monuments there.

At this point, the Christians are happy enough that they have access to their churches. But the Temple Mount, the holiest part of the city, was held by the Palestinians until 1967, and they want it back. It has several ancient mosques on it. The Israelis do let them up onto it to pray, under heavy guard.

Because it is a disputed area. Isreal and philistine, both consider it as their city. This is because it has the major religious sites of three religions, i.e. Islam, Judaism & Christianity.

Let's check out in detail::

Christianity:: according to them, Jerusalem is the place where Jesus was bought as a child. Jesus spent most of his time in Jerusalem & preached the God’s message. He also healed many persons there. Finally, Jesus was crucified in Jerusalem. Jerusalem also has the holiest sites of Christianity i.e. a church made on the tomb of Jesus Christ. Jesus also ascended to heaven from Jerusalem.

ISLAM:: according to them, it is a place from where Prophet Muhammad ascended to heaven (same as Jesus). Therefore, they also have a holy mosque there named “Al-aqsa-mosque”. It is the third holiest site in Islam after Mecca & Madina.

JEWS:: Judaism has only one holy site i.e. a place where first two Jewish temples were built. The first two Jewish temples were built in Jerusalem. So it is also a Jewish religious holy site. Moreover, Jewish kings itself founded & established the city of Jerusalem & ruled it for about initial 2000 years.
