UNILORIN: BAMSSA in conflict, over eligibility of candidate

Basic Medical Sciences Students Association, is in conflict over eligibility of candidate for faculty president.

According to our source, the misunderstanding is as a result of a candidate not meeting-up with the required CGPA meant for the office.

The Chairman Independent Electoral Committee of the Faculty, said, a constitution review committee recently constituted by the Senate Council of the Faculty, pegged the required CGPA at 3.35, and to be implemented immediately.

Our source has it that, the said candidate, Mr. Olaitan Oreoluwa of Basic Medical Sciences, has 3.33 CGPA, but kept mute until screening exercise was conducted.

According to Chairman BAMSSAIEC, Mr. Ridwan, congress felt the new law was formulated to hinder their aspirant, which prompt reactions from them.

Mr. Ridwan said, Com. Adeoti Tosin of BAMSSA, sent an online broadcast, that the law must be reviewed, else there won't be peace in the college.

Mr. Ridwan stated, the issue prompted stakeholders  meeting with the Students adviser, Dr. Olajide, who advised they call for congress to arrive at a consensus.

Report also has it that, Senate President of the Faculty, Mr. Martin, suspended the Central Executive Council.

As of the time of this, a Congress has been called with the Manifesto being today, but suspended.
