Alicia Vikander Succeeds 'Tomb Raider', Jolie

When 28-year-old Oscar 🏆 winner Alicia Vikander took over the role of Lara Croft from Jolie, she felt empowered.

In an interview with Elle magazine on Tomb Raider's action scenes 💃🏻, she said, "I love big popcorn movies 🎥. I've never been able to lift my own weight, and the day when you have that capacity, it's pretty empowering!"

On being the new Lara Croft, "I thought I was going to have to explain it to my mom, and she was like, 'Yeah, Angelina did that!' It proves that [Angelina] set a whole tone for that kind of role, so I knew we had to do something very different."
