Trump Tweet: Tough talking

After China, the President's next stop on his Asia tour was Vietnam 🇻🇳, where he delivered a tough 'America-first' 🇺🇸 speech at the APEC summit.

🐦 I am leaving China for APEC2017 in Vietnam. FLOTUS Melania is staying behind to see the zoo, and of course, the Great WALL of China before going to Alaska to greet our AMAZING troops.

Beijing Zoo’s world famous giant pandas refused to be upstaged when Melania Trump came to visit, with one cheekily ‘photobombing’ the First Lady. The 47-year-old former model met giant panda Gu Gu on her trip and got to learn about his nutrition and training.

🐦 Throughout my travels, I've had the pleasure of sharing the good news from America. I've had the honor of sharing our vision for a free & open Indo-Pacific -- a place where sovereign & independent nations, w/diverse cultures & many different dreams, can all prosper side-by-side.

Apec brings together 21 economies 🌏 from the Pacific region - the equivalent of about 60% of the world's GDP. 
Since taking office, President Trump has pursued his "America First" agenda and pulled the US out of the regional Trans-Pacific Partnership - a major trade deal with 12 Apec nations - arguing it would hurt US economic interests.

🐦 In more and more places throughout this region, citizens of SOVEREIGN and INDEPENDENT nations have taken greater control of their destinies, and unlocked the potential of their people. APEC2017

Trump also laid out the United States' new approach to trade, telling the audience that he would no longer pursue ✋ multi-national trade agreements "that tie our hands, surrender our sovereignty and make meaningful enforcement practically impossible." 
"I will make bilateral trade agreements with any Indo-Pacific nation that wants to be our partner and that will abide by the principles of fair and reciprocal trade," Trump said without directly mentioning TPP.
