Justice Department considers charging Russians for hacking

The Justice Department has identified more than six members of the Russian government involved in the hacking of the Democratic National Committee's computers during the 2016 presidential election, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Enough evidence has been assembled to charge the suspects and a case could be brought next year, the WSJ said, citing people familiar with the investigation.

On Monday, it emerged that Trump campaign official George Papadopoulos was briefed early last year that the Russians had “dirt” on former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, including “thousands of emails.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin's spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said claims that Russia interfered in the election were “unfounded.”
